This makes me wanna puke.

Friday, June 23, 2006

Man...Ben reminded me of the 80's and I was thinking, what movies I remember and was influenced by the 80's.  So I started thinking...

Pat and I were actually talking last night about the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks, that was a movie that influenced me to play the piano to learn that song.

Teen wolf was another biggy.  Michael J. Fox and that song, I dont remember the name of it, but it goes..."do you love me, baby do you love me.  (repeat).  Now that IIIIIIII can dAAAaaaaaance, watch me now, work, work, work, oh work it oh baby...well you get the point.

Who could forget 21 jump street with the dark and rebelious cop Johnny Depp.

The wonder years with a young Fred Savage, and my all time first crush on a girl.  Whinney Cooper. =)

Fred Savage also made many more movies like...Vice Versa, an 80's version of freaky friday.

Little monsters where Fred Savage goes under his bed and explores a new world of just monsters.  The Wizard with the sneak peak of Super Mario Brothers 3, and the Nintendo power glove.

The goonies, never ending story, howard the duck.  (I liked that movie cuz from then on, I would always call my brother howard the duck.)  Ferris Buellers day off, gremlins, willow, short circut (Johnny 5), Tron, batman, weird science, top gun, and many more...

The 80's let me give you a perspective of my age and what I did at the time

I was born January 1982.  That gives me 8 years till the 90's.  How you ask, that I remember so much when I was 7 years old by the end of 1989?  Beats me...but I was playing with marbles with my brothers in Monterey Park, that was my first house I could remember.  Later I was in Alhambra in what I could remember Summer Camp at Adventure Land.  This was probably from K2 - end of 1st grade.

Now let me tell you about my education.  K1 numbers and alphabets.  K2 science and reading, I learned about animal kingdoms and their classifications.  How the Fox was related to the wolf and junk.  1st grade I learned my multiplication and how tadpoles turned into frogs.  I also remember reading the book Charlotte's Web. (YES! Multiplications Table up to 12 in 1st grade.  I remember because I was caught cheating by having a peachy folder with the Times Tables under my desk while taking a test.)  This was a private school and they encouraged the paddle.  And boy did I get the paddle.

So back to my fun times as a kid and none of this nonsence of "education."  By the time I was done getting paddles I moved to San Marino and enrolled in Public School, YES no more uniforms and I have more freedom.  I played little league baseball, technically this was T-ball.  My first team was the Phillies, boy I sucked.  Then we get into real Little League where we had pitchers.  I was on the Twins...Nick name:  Bull Dog and City Champions, we beat those stupid Cardinals and took the trophy from them!

In the summer I was playing Hide and seek, freeze tag, and supersoakers.  Not those new stuff with back packs and huge tanks of water.  We played with the SS 20's and if you were rich you would be using a SS50.

By the way...this is only a FRACTION of what I remembered.  I could write a whole essay on the shows and cartoons I watched.

This concludes my times in the 80's.  I miss the 80's, maybe you can share a little more about when you were a little tike and what you did in the 80's.

This is pretty funny and true at the end.
